Strong Normality and Generalized Copeland–erdős Numbers
We prove that an infinite class of Copeland-Erdős numbers is not strongly normal and provide the analogous result for Bugeaud’s Mahler-inspired extension of the Copeland-Erdős numbers. After the presentation of our results, we o↵er several open questions concerning normality and strong normality.
متن کاملStrong Chip, Normality, and Linear Regularity of Convex Sets
We extend the property (N) introduced by Jameson for closed convex cones to the normal property for a nite collection of convex sets in a Hilbert space. Variations of the normal property, such as the weak normal property and the uniform normal property, are also introduced. A dual form of the normal property is derived. When applied to closed convex cones, the dual normal property is the proper...
متن کاملChampernowne's Number, Strong Normality, and the X Chromosome
Champernowne’s number is the best-known example of a normal number, but its digits are far from random. The sequence of nucleotides in the human X-chromosome appears non-random in a similar way. We give a new test of pseudorandomness, strong normality, based on the law of the iterated logarithm. Almost all numbers are strongly normal, and we show that a strongly normal number must necessarily b...
متن کاملInferences on the Generalized Variance under Normality
Generalized variance is applied for determination of dispersion in a multivariate population and is a successful measure for concentration of multivariate data. In this article, we consider constructing confidence interval and testing the hypotheses about generalized variance in a multivariate normal distribution and give a computational approach. Simulation studies are performed to compare thi...
